‘Star Wars: Rogue One’ may soon have an Oscar winner on board as Forest Whitaker is in talks to join the spinoff film due out in 2016…
Forest Whitaker — best known for his Academy Award winning performance in ‘The Last King of Scotland’ as well as ‘The Butler’ and his upcoming role in ‘Southpaw — is in final negotiations for a part in the upcoming ‘Star Wars’ spinoff movie ‘Star Wars: Rogue One’.
The movie already starts Felicity Jones, Diego Luna and Ben Mendelsohn as well as Gareth Edwards, who is on board to direct.
The film takes place between Star Wars Episodes III and IV as a band of rebel spies attempt to steal plans for the Death Star with Jones playing one of the lead rebel soldiers.
Details on the character Whitaker would play are not available at this time.
‘Star Wars: Rogue One’ is set to open in theaters on December 16, 2016.
