It kind of seems like an oxymoron to have ‘Sleepy Hollow’ without the Headless Horseman but that’s exactly what’s happening in season 3…
Does anyone else feel like ‘Sleepy Hollow’ is going to return in October and be a completely different show?
A ton of changes have been made the series with new show runner Clifton Campbell in charge — Orlando Jones is gone. Katia Winter is gone. John Noble is gone. Matt Barr is gone.
And now the Headless Horseman is gone.
Wait, what?
Yep, Campbell confirmed on Monday that actor Neil Jackson who played Abraham Van Brunt aka the Headless Horseman aka the Horseman of War will not be back for season 3 in any way shape or form.
“There won’t be any Headless this year,” Campbell told TV Guide. “But we have a new framework and a new set of rules for the mythology. And it all starts with the introduction of our new big bad and will take us into a very interesting device which will allow us to see a somewhat more compelling, but more personal threat to both Abbie (Nicole Beharie) and Crane (Tom Mison).”
The new season of ‘Sleepy Hollow’ will also see the return of Joe Corbin (Zach Appelman), who was the son of Sheriff Corbin who was cursed with becoming a Wendigo until Abbie and Crane cured him a year ago. He steps in and now will play opposite of Jenny (Lyndie Greenwood) as they help Abbie and Ichabod solve the supernatural crimes coming to town this season.
It will be interested to see if this new version of ‘Sleepy Hollow’ can move forward with virtually all of the cast changing between seasons outside of the two leads and a couple of supporting characters who will still be on the canvas when the show returns on October 1.
