The Walking Dead will unveil a new 30 minute airline zombie attack special during season 6 with a new character that will then appear on Fear the Walking Dead….
The Walking Dead is taking to the air!
The hugely popular series on AMC is about to tackle the premise of an outbreak happening on a plane during the earliest days of the zombie apocalypse and it will tie into the new show, Fear the Walking Dead, with a character from the special set to appear in season 2.
Here’s how this will work….
The Walking Dead will film a 30 minute special that will debut online and then eventually get shown in pieces during season 6 of the main series that debuts on October 11.
The premise for the story will follow a group of passengers on a plane, we assume bound for Los Angeles, when somebody dies mid-flight and a zombie outbreak actually happens while they are still in the air. The passengers will then have to deal with the attack and subsequent bite victims that will turn this plane ride chaotic.
One of the characters who survives the ordeal will then appear on Fear the Walking Dead season 2, which debuts on AMC with 15 episodes in 2016.
Obviously there are still a ton of questions surrounding this stand alone special but right now nobody at The Walking Dead or AMC are talking. There’s no word on casting for this outbreak on a plane episode much less when it will air. The special is expected to be broken up into pieces to then air on The Walking Dead season 6, but again there’s no telling if it will all appear during one episode or over several episodes.
If the special is 30 minutes long, it’s hard to imagine it would air over only a single Walking Dead episode but that is still a mystery.
For now, just get ready for The Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead to connect via a mysterious flight and at least one passenger who survives when zombies go airborne.
