‘Breaking Bad’ fans rejoice because Aaron Paul might just make an appearance during ‘Better Call Saul’ season 3…
From the day ‘Better Call Saul’ was announced, everybody wondered how many past characters from ‘Breaking Bad’ would appear on the prequel that followed lawyer Saul Goodman in his transformation from (somewhat) reputable attorney to the eventual money laundering partner of Walter White and Jesse Pinkman.
Thus far several key characters from ‘Breaking Bad’ have appeared with Jonathan Banks (Mike Ehrmantraut) as a mainstay and Giancarlo Esposito about to reprise his role as Gus Fring during season 3. There have also been plenty of Easter Egg characters that have popped up throughout the series, but the big question remains will we ever see Walter White or Jesse Pinkman again?
Aaron Paul — who played Jesse Pinkman to critical acclaim for five seasons on ‘Breaking Bad’ — may have just given us the answer.
Appearing on “Ellen” this week, Paul teased that perhaps he’s already filmed a scene for ‘Better Call Saul’ season 3 but fans will just have to tune in when the show returns in April to find out.
“God, I hope so,” Paul said. “Maybe I already shot it. We just — or they just — wrapped the (new) season. I could be (on the new season). I would love to be on”
Paul slipping on his words by saying “we just” wrapped before correcting himself may have let the cat out of the bag that Jesse Pinkman may find a way to appear on ‘Better Call Saul’ this season.
The really interesting part about a possible appearance from Paul would be the timeline for Jesse’s return to the ‘Breaking Bad’ universe. The events in ‘Better Call Saul’ take place years before Saul Goodman meets the two meth cooks, which means during this time Jesse would probably be in high school and obviously had never dealt with the lawyer before.
So Jesse’s reappearance in ‘Better Call Saul’ could give a hint at what his life has looked like after the events of ‘Breaking Bad’ came to an end. There have been hints to that during the first two seasons of ‘Better Call Saul’ as Saul has relocated to Nebraska in hiding where he’s now known as Gene, the manager of the local Cinnabon establishment.
Could Jesse track down his own attorney after gaining his freedom courtesy of Walter in the ‘Breaking Bad’ finale?
‘Better Call Saul’ is already one of the best shows on television but the possible return of Jesse Pinkman during season 3 just makes it that much better.
‘Better Call Saul’ returns on Monday, April 10 at 10pm ET on AMC.
