Adrianne Palicki and Nick Blood Expected to Star in ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ Spinoff

It looks like the ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ spinoff is closer to reality with Adrianne Palicki and Nick Blood expected to star in the series…

Rumors of an ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ spinoff surfaced recently with the show already in the first stages of development between Marvel and ABC. Now it appears things are closer to becoming a reality with two stars expected to headline the series.

Adrianne Palicki — who plays Agent Bobbi Morse aka Mockingbird on the current ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ series — will star alongside her on again, off again ex-husband Lance Hunter, played by Nick Blood, in the new series expected to get picked up at ABC.

On the current version of the show, Palicki and Blood’s characters are at odds as S.H.I.E.L.D. faces an identity crisis as two different factions of the once powerful covert organization battle for the direction the agency will go in a post Nick Fury led era.

The idea behind the new series is expected to be set up during the final episodes of the current season of ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ with Palicki and Blood’s characters going off on their own for the spinoff. The sometimes husband and wife team have been a great addition to the show this season so it makes perfect sense that they would split off into their own series with new mission parameters in mind.

There’s no confirmation yet when the new ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ would run, but prevailing opinion seems to be that the series would air during the off months from the primary show starring Clark Gregg. If ABC also chooses to pick up ‘Agent Carter’ for another run next year, the network could potentially have a Marvel block for at least one night a week running throughout the entire year.

There’s also a fourth Marvel series in development from director John Ridley as well so ABC appears to going all in on Marvel programming for 2015 and beyond.

Keep an eye on the current season of ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ to know exactly what Bobbi and Lance will be doing in their new show as the set up should be clear before the finale later this spring.
