A&E Adapting Swedish Vampire Film ‘Let the Right One In’ as a New TV Series

The popular Swedish vampire film ‘Let the Right One In’ will be headed to your TV screens soon after A&E beat out Showtime in a bidding war for the project…

When it comes to smart and original concepts in the vampire genre, the 2008 film ‘Let the Right One In’ based on the book of the same name from author John Ajvide Lindqvist was one of the best in recent memory.

The story follows a young boy who is constantly bullied and beat up at school who ends up befriending a young neighbor girl, who just happens to be a centuries old vampire. She travels with a caretaker from town to town, feeding on her thirst for blood, but her latest stop ends up attracting the attention of the police while she also gets close to the boy, who just wants to be her friend.

A&E won the chance to make the new series after purchasing the television rights to the story and will hand the reigns over to ‘Teen Wolf’ show runner Jeff Davis and screenwriter Brandon Boyce to adapt the new series.

‘Let the Right One In’ was already adapted into a U.S. movie titled ‘Let Me In’ from director Matt Reeves and starring Chole Grace-Moritz in the lead role. The original film is still regarded as one of the best horror films of the last decade.

It will be interesting to see what A&E is able to do with the remake on television but so far they’ve done an oustanding job adapting projects such as ‘Bates Motel’ and French horror series ‘The Returned’ for the network.
