The rumored Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. spinoff that was dead has new life again after ABC ordered a pilot for Marvel’s Most Wanted ….
Earlier this year it was announced that ABC was in the beginning stages of creating a new spinoff series for Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. that would focus on characters Bobbi Morse aka Mockingbird (played by Adrianne Palicki) and her adventurous ex-husband Lance Hunter (played by Nick Blood).
It sounded like a good idea at the time, but then ABC squashed the proposed spinoff and said that the two characters who joined Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. in season two were too important to let go after the show had such a successful sophomore campaign.
Well somebody at ABC can’t seem to make up their mind because now the show is back on again with a pilot order in store.
Marvel’s Most Wanted will focus on the adventures of Mockingbird and Lance all over the globe with Jeff Bell and Paul Zbyszewski writing the script and acting as show runners for the new series.
The series is very much in the infancy phase right now so it’s unclear when or how the show would debut or if there will be an episode from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 3 that would introduce the threat where the two characters split off from the main group to become their own faction on Marvel’s Most Wanted.
Either way, the pilot has been ordered with a series pickup likely to happen considering ABC’s investment in Marvel projects recently. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is just about to enter its third season while Agent Carter was just renewed for season two as well. There’s another Marvel project in the works at ABC as well from American Crime creator John Ridley, but that remains a hush-hush series for now.
