The hunt for the new Han Solo has apparently come to an end with Alden Ehrenreich landing the highly coveted role…
For the first time ever, someone other than Harrison Ford will be playing Han Solo in the upcoming Star Wars prequel movie that will look at the smuggler’s life long before he joined the Rebel Alliance.
And the actor who will be playing him is Alden Ehrenreich.
Page Six reported the news late Thursday evening.
Ehrenreich beat out a laundry list of other actors vying for the part including Miles Teller, Ansel Elgort, Taron Egerton, and Scott Eastwood.
If you’re unfamiliar with Ehrenreich’s name, don’t be surprised, because he’s still relatively new as far as his starring roles in feature films go. He most recently appeared in the Coen brothers comedy Hail, Caesar! as well as an upcoming role in a Warren Beatty movie about the life of Howard Hughes.
Ehrenreich, 26, will take over the role from Ford, who has been playing Han Solo since Star Wars first debuted in 1977.
The new Han Solo prequel feature film is due out on May 25, 2018 with Phil Lord and Chris Miller handling directing duties with a script by famous Star Wars writer Lawrence Kasdan alongside his son Jon.
