Veteran actor John Hurt has passed away at the age of 77…
John Hurt — best known for legendary roles in films such as ‘Alien’ and the ‘Harry Potter’ franchise — has passed away at the age of 77 according to his publicist.
No other details were offered about Hurt’s death.
Hurt was a steady presence in Hollywood throughout his legendary career where he worked in films for more than 50 years.
Hurt may best be remembered for his role in the 1979 science fiction classic ‘Alien’ where he was the first crew member attacked by the face hugging aliens before his shocking death when the creature burst out of his chest a few days later. Hurt even relived that famous scene years later when he made a guest appearance in Mel Brooks’ ‘Spaceballs’.
Hurt also starred in numerous other roles including ‘The Elephant Man’ as well as ‘Midnight Express’.
In the latter part of his career, Hurt starred in several ‘Harry Potter’ films as the wand maker Olivander as well as a role in the apocalyptic science fiction film ‘Snowpiercer’.
Hurt continued to act right up until his passing with several roles just recently filmed that are still in post production.
