Online digital comic book distributor ComiXology completed a deal on Thursday to be sold and purchased by Amazon.com….
The online digital age of comic books is big business and the ComiXology app and website might just be the biggest and best of the bunch. So it stands to reason that another major online retailer would see the value in bringing digital comics to their platform instead.
So in a deal announced on Thursday, Amazon.com announced the purchase of ComiXology to be added to their catalog of online properties.
“ComiXology’s mission is to spread the love of comics and graphic novels in all forms,” said David Steinberger, co-founder and CEO of comiXology. “There is no better home for comiXology than Amazon to see this vision through. Working together, we look to accelerate a new age for comic books and graphic novels.”
Terms of the purchase including the final price paid by Amazon were not disclosed. The deal between Amazon and ComiXology is expected to close in the second quarter of 2014.
