American Horror Story will return on Wednesday night with a new season titled Freak Show but now the creators have also sold a new series titled American Crime Story that will debut on FX in 2015….
There’s no denying the popularity of the American Horror Story franchise at FX over the last few seasons and now creator Ryan Murphy has a new show on the horizon titled American Crime Story that will delve into the most notorious true crime stories from the United States in another anthology series.
The new series has already been ordered for 10 episodes on FX with the first season titled American Crime Story: The People vs. O.J. Simpson as they take aim at one of the most famous court trials of the past century.
Based on the took ‘The Run of His Life: The People V. O.J. Simpson’ by Jeffrey Toobin, Murphy will direct the series with Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski (The People vs. Larry Flynt) on board to write the script.
“This is an exciting project for me, as I’ve been looking for the right property which could serve as an extension of the American Horror Story brand I love so much,” Murphy said. “The O.J. case was as tragic as it was fascinating — it seemed like everyone had a stake in the outcome. It was really the beginning of the modern tabloid age.”
The focus for the 10-episode true crime series will look at the turbulent trial from the eyes of the attorneys and the people behind the scenes that witnessed first hand the rollercoaster ride of O.J. Simpson being tried for the murder of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman.
