The upcoming season of American Horror Story Hotel will officially go on without Jessica Lange, but the series has added Matt Bomer as a star….
There will be a big shake up for American Horror Story Hotel as revealed during the show’s panel at Paleyfest in Los Angeles on Sunday night with Jessica Lange confirming after four seasons that she will not be returning for the new incarnation of the show.
Lange had stated in past interviews that she was going to finish her arc on American Horror Story after season four, but there was still a small hope that she would return for some role in the upcoming fifth season. Unfortunately it appears Lange is ready to move on to new endeavors.
“Yes, I’m done,” Lange said. “We’ve had a great run here. I have absolutely loved doing these four characters that I’ve had the opportunity to play. In all the madness, I’ve loved the writers, my actors, Ryan (Murphy) and the whole, I mean, insanity of it, shooting here, shooting in New Orleans, the stories, everything.”
As sad as it was to see Lange officially leave the show, there was good news on Sunday night as the male lead for the new season of American Horror Story Hotel was announced.
Matt Bomer — best known for his roles in ‘The Normal Heart’, ‘White Collar’ and ‘Magic Mike’ — will join American Horror Story Hotel as the lead for this upcoming season. Rumors abound that he will be in a romantic relationship with fellow co-star Lady Gaga, who also joins the show this season, but he stated he could not confirm nor deny that tidbit.
Bomer co-starred for a brief appearance during American Horror Story: Freak Show last season, but with his last series ‘White Collar’ now officially at an end, he can join the new season full time as one of the series leads.
Also confirmed for the upcoming season was new series star Cheyenne Jackson — best known for his work in ’30 Rock’ as well as ‘Glee’ where he worked with American Horror Story creator Ryan Murphy as well.
Further details about the new season remain a mystery including where the show will be based. Executive Producer Tim Minear did confirm one piece of the puzzle that was already largely known but will once again lead to a few mysteries this year when he said that American Horror Story Hotel, just like the four previous installments before it, are all connected.
Expect more casting news and further details about American Horror Story Hotel to be released in the coming months.
