To no one’s surprise, American Horror Story has officially been ordered for season 6 at FX in 2016.…
American Horror Story now stands as the most popular show on FX so it stands to reason that the horror anthology series was officially renewed for season 6 on Tuesday.
John Landgraf, CEO of FX Networks, made the announcement with the next episode of American Horror Story: Hotel set to debut on Wednesday night at 10pm.
“With the sixth installment coming next year, American Horror Story has unquestionably joined the ranks of television’s landmark series,” Landgraf said. “From Murder House to Hotel, AHS has pioneered a new television form as well becoming FX’s highest rated show — while also pushing every conceivable boundary of creative excellence and audacity.
This is even more remarkable because Ryan and co-creator Brad Falchuk tear up the playbook every year, challenging the entire creative team to come up with something even more spectacular, frightful and entertaining. You could not ask more of an artist, their team or a series and with every new installment they deliver.”
American Horror Story has continued to be a commercial and critical success for the cable network with 71 Emmy nominations through the first four seasons with 13 wins.
The new installment stars Lady Gaga for the first time ever along with several new full time cast members including Matt Bomer.
American Horror Story creator Ryan Murphy has teased that the show could end up doing two seasons in 2016 but as of now that still hasn’t been confirmed. For now we know for sure that American Horror Story — in one form or another — will be back next year.
