According to the TMZ, Yelchin was supposed to meet some friends for a rehearsal but when he didn’t show up they became alarmed and went to his home to check on him. His friends then found him at his home pinned between his car and a brick mailbox. Law enforcement said it was a steep driveway but there was no word why Yelchin got out of his car, which was still running and in neutral when he was found.
Authorities don’t suspect any foul play.
Yelchin, originally born in Russia, became an actor at an early age where he starred in several films including Alpha Dog and Charlie Bartlett before landing a coveted role in the rebooted Star Trek universe from J.J. Abrams.
Yelchin is set to appear in the third film in the series — Star Trek: Beyond — which hits theaters on July 22.
