‘Bates Motel’ will be sticking around for at least two more seasons while the resurrection drama ‘The Returned’ will end after only one year….
It appears the world will see Norman Bates’ transformation from high school student to matricidal maniac as ‘Bates Motel’ has officially been renewed for both seasons 4 and 5, which is expected to bring the story full circle and to conclusion.
A&A announced the renewals on Monday.
‘Bates Motel’ executive producer Carlton Cuse has long stated that he envisioned a five season arc for the series although in the release about the renewal, A&E didn’t say the fifth season would be the last although that seems to be the intended plan.
Both seasons will receive 10-episode orders with season 4 set to debut on A&E in the spring of 2016.
Unfortunately, ‘Bates Motel’s’ success didn’t transfer over to the new A&E series ‘The Returned’, which was the American version of the cult French hit ‘Les Revenants’, because that show has been cancelled after only one season.
The show focused on a small town in Washington where long dead citizens start returning from the grave while trying to resume their past lives. The original series was a critical and commercial success in France as well as the subtitled version aired on the Sundance Channel in the U.S.
The Americanized version for A&E didn’t fare nearly as well and now the show has been cancelled after the first season.
