Just days after Ben McKenzie was chosen to play the lead character in ‘Gotham’, FOX has announced several other castings for the upcoming Batman prequel…
‘Gotham‘ will head to series later this year on FOX, serving as a prequel to Batman as the show follows the exploits of a young detective named Jim Gordon, who will one day become Commissioner Gordon — leader of the Gotham police and friend to the caped crusader.
The series just recently cast Southland’s Ben McKenzie in the title role as Gordon, but on Tuesday FOX announced several other major lands for the show including the actor who will portray Oswald Cobblepot aka The Penguin. FOX executives have stated that several notable characters from the Batman universe will appear on the series prior to their dealings with Batman years later.
Oswald Cobblepot aka The Penguin will be played by Robin Lord Taylor (The Walking Dead) –

“The brains of a chess grandmaster and the morals of a jackal, Oswald Cobblepot is a low-level psychopath for gangster Fish Mooney who hides his sadistic lust for power behind an exquisitely polite demeanor.”
Alfred Pennyworth will be played by Sean Pertwee (Dog Soldiers)
“A tough-as-nails ex-marine from East London, Alfred Pennyworth has loyally served the Waynes. Now, in the wake of their tragic deaths, he’s fiercely protective of the young Bruce Wayne.”
Captain Essen (Gordon’s boss) will be played by Zabryna Guevara (Burn Notice)
“Gordon’s boss at the GCPD Homicide Squad, Captain Essen balances the two worlds of police and politics with a Machiavellian skill that’s as much corporate litigator as cop.”
Barbara Kean will be played by Erin Richards (Being Human, UK version)
“A sophisticated emergency room doctor, Barbara is the fiancée of James Gordon, joyful but with an edge of vulnerability. She stands by her future husband…which can be difficult in a world as corrupt as Gotham.”
Gotham will begin shooting later this year with the show expected to air on FOX in the fall
