A deleted scene from Batman V. Superman was released this week with a tease that might give us insight into who will be the big bad in the Justice League movie….
MASSIVE SPOILERS BELOW IF YOU HAVEN’T SEEN BATMAN V. SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE
Now that the disclaimer is out of the way….
If you’ve seen Batman V. Superman it’s probably clear that there are already a ton of moving parts in this film including Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Lex Luthor, Lois Lane and eventually Doomsday.
Many have called Batman V. Superman an untitled prequel to the upcoming Justice League movie that begins filming in April and in a lot of ways that statement is 100-percent on the money. In fact, at the very end of Batman V. Superman, a captured and imprisoned Lex Luthor warns that ‘he is coming’ while telling Batman that no one will be powerful enough to stop him.
Now it’s fairly clear given Luthor’s fanatic ravings that he’s likely talking about the villain Darkseid, who has been a major enemy of the Justice League for decades so his appearance in a movie makes too much sense. So what about that deleted scene? How does that connect back to Darkseid?
Well — as you’ll see by the scene below, Lex Luthor is sitting in a vat of organic fluids inside the Kryptonian ship that once belonged to General Zod. He’s currently attempting to resurrect a monster using Zod’s DNA along with his own blood for a creature that will eventually become Doomsday. But while Lex is stewing in bloody muck, we spot a strange alien creature holding onto three boxes before they disintegrate and disappear along with the creature holding them.
Those are more than likely mother boxes — sentient, miniature super computers — routinely used by the Gods of New Genesis. These living super computers can do any number of wondrous things including energy manipulation, telepathy, healing powers and teleportation, which could explain how Darkseid makes his way from his home on Apokolips to Earth.
