The upcoming Black Panther movie has enlisted Ryan Coogler to direct the new movie in the Marvel Cinematic universe …
Ryan Coogler — best known for directing Fruitvale Station and the recent hit Creed — has been officially hired to direct the upcoming Black Panther movie due out on February 16, 2018.
Coogler has received a ton of acclaim for his first two features. Creed has been a critical hit and co-star Sylvester Stallone won a Golden Globe just this week for his work in the movie.
“We are fortunate to have such an esteemed filmmaker join the Marvel family,” said producer Kevin Feige. “The talents Ryan showcased in his first two films easily made him our top choice to direct Black Panther. Many fans have waited a long time to see Black Panther in his own film, and with Ryan we know we’ve found the perfect director to bring T’Challa’s story to life.”
Black Panther will be played by Chadwick Boseman, who will make his first appearance as the character in this year’s Captain America: Civil War, which opens on May 6.
