Bradley Cooper has officially landed the voiceover part for the smallest team member of the Guardians of the Galaxy when he takes the role of Rocket Raccoon for the upcoming film directed by James Gunn.
Cooper has been in consideration for the role for the past few weeks, and on Friday Marvel made the official announcement about his casting.
Cooper has been a mainstay of major movie roles over the last several years where he’s starred in The Hangover (and the subsequent sequels), The A-Team and last year’s breakout hit Silver Linings Playbook, for which he was nominated for an Oscar award.
Cooper will be doing voiceover work for the first time in his career when he lends his to the furry badass known as Rocket Raccoon.
The newest addition to the cast joins Chris Pratt, who plays Peter Quill, Zoe Saldana playing Gamora and former WWE pro wrestler Dave Bautista who plays Drax.
Cooper may have another famous friend join him in the voiceover game with Vin Diesel currently rumored to land a part as the voice of giant tree-man Groot in the upcoming Guardians film as well.
Guardians of the Galaxy will be released in theaters on August 1, 2014 as part of a major line-up of Marvel films coming next year. In addition to Guardians, Captain America: The Winter Soldier will be released on April 4, 2014 and Thor: The Dark World landing on November 8, 2014.
