The production for season 2 of True Detective will kick off this fall and now the two lead stars for the show have been announced.
HBO confirmed on Tuesday that long rumored stars Colin Farrell and Vince Vaughn will indeed lead the cast for upcoming season of the show set in California.
The tagline and plot for the upcoming season is as follows: Three police officers and a career criminal must navigate a web of conspiracy in the aftermath of a murder.
Farrell will play Ray Velcoro, a compromised detective whose allegiances are torn between his masters in a corrupt police department and the mobster who owns him.
Vaughn plays Frank Semyon, a career criminal in danger of losing his empire when his move into legitimate enterprise is upended by the murder of a business partner.
The first two episodes of the series will be directed by ‘Fast and the Furious’ director Justin Lin. Show creator Nic Pizzolatto will write all eight episodes for season 2.
More casting announcements are expected within the coming weeks as production gets closer. The new season of True Detective will debut in the summer of 2015.
