Calista Flockhart will return for ‘Supergirl’ season 2 but she won’t be appearing on screen nearly as much…
Possibly the biggest shake up from “Supergirl” moving from CBS to the CW is the location shift for filming as the show goes from Los Angeles to Vancouver — joining other CW series such as “Arrow”, “The Flash” and “Legends of Tomorrow”.
Unfortunately that shift in filming location cut down on the amount of time Calista Flockhart could make for “Supergirl” season 2.
Flockhart — who plays Kara’s girl power boss Cat Grant — will return for “Supergirl” season 2 but only in a recurring role as her time allows to travel from Los Angeles to Vancouver for filming.
“Supergirl wouldn’t be Supergirl without the amazing Calista Flockhart as Cat Grant,” executive producer Andrew Kreisburg said in a statement.
“We are so excited Calista has agreed to continue on the show when she can. We and the audience love to see her on screen.”
“Supergirl” maintained the majority of the cast from season one to season two, even with the shift to the CW, but Flockhart was always the wild card considering her star power (as well as what is likely a hefty paycheck) to appear on the superhero series.
With Flockhart in a reduced role, Ian Gomez, who was cast just recently as Snapper Carr, will likely end up taking charge in many of the scenes were Cat Grant would have probably once been in the middle of a scene.
“Supergirl” season two debuts on The CW on Monday, October 10 at 8pm ET.
