Casting news landed on Wednesday including ‘Firefly’ star Morena Baccarin returning to FOX as part of the cast of “Gotham”….
A slew of new castings were announced on Wednesday with Gotham, Sleepy Hollow and Bates Motel all gaining new actors and actresses including a couple of Joss Whedon’s favorites.
— Morena Baccarin will return to FOX for the first time since her turn on Joss Whedon’s “Firefly” as she takes on an iconic role in the series “Gotham”. Baccarin will play Dr. Leslie Thompkins, who was a close friend of Thomas and Martha Wayne and (at least in the comics) eventually becomes a godparent to Bruce Wayne alongside his butler, Alfred Pennyworth. Baccarin will begin appearing as Dr. Thompkins in a recurring role later this season with an option for her to join the cast in a full time role if the show returns for season 2.
— Michelle Trachtenberg of ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’ fame has landed a slot on the most Buffy-esque show in the TV universe as she will star in a guest role on an upcoming episode of “Sleepy Hollow”. Trachtenberg is set to play Abigail Adams, the wife of second American president John Adams. The story line involving her character surrounds a mysterious relationship the former first lady shared with Katrina Crane at some time in her past.
— On the heels of adding Sons of Anarchy bad boy Ryan Hurst to season 3 of Bates Motel, the A&E series has also added “Mad Men” star Kevin Rahm in a recurring role as well. Rahm will play Bob Paris, “the wealthy, self-involved and gregarious owner of an elite hunting club” who grew up with Sheriff Romero (played by Nestor Carbonell). Rahm will be a recurring character in season 3 of the show, which returns to A&E in March 2015.
