Two more major roles are being looked at right now with Elizabeth Olsen in talks to play The Scarlet Witch while Bradley Cooper may voice Rocket Raccoon in Guardians of the Galaxy…
It’s likely Ben Affleck playing Batman in the new Man of Steel sequel will eat up the headlines for the next few days, there are a couple of other interesting casting stories floating around for two major Marvel projects in the works currently.
First off for Joss Whedon’s Avengers 2: Age of Ultron, casting directors are currently exploring the option of placing Elizabeth Olsen in the role of Wanda Maximoff aka The Scarlet Witch in the upcoming sequel.
Olsen, who is the younger sister of Full House stars Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen, is currently in post production where she starred in both Godzilla and Oldboy.
The Scarlet Witch could prove to be a pivotal role in the upcoming Avengers sequel depending on how Whedon decides to use Ultron, and his various “gifts” to The Avengers including his android child The Vision (who later becomes involved with The Scarlet Witch in the comics).
The casting process for Olsen is not finished yet, but she is the current front-runner to land the role in the upcoming sequel that begins filming in 2014.
The other casting news involves more voiceover work for a Marvel film.
While Vin Diesel is currently rumored to be taking the part as the voice of human-tree Groot in the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy film, he may have another A-list celebrity joining him as the voice of fuzzy Guardian’s member Rocket Raccoon.
According to a report from Latino-Review, the producers behind the new Guardians of the Galaxy film are pursuing Bradley Cooper to voice Rocket Raccoon in the upcoming space epic.
Negotiations are currently ongoing for Cooper as well, but with production already underway for the film it’s likely Guardians of the Galaxy will want to lock down deals for both Diesel and Cooper sooner rather than later.
