‘Castle Rock’ Season 2 Renewed at Hulu, Cast Not Determined Yet

The horror series ‘Castle Rock’ has just been renewed for season 2 on Hulu but the question remains will any of the cast be coming back as well?

Stephen King’s universe will continue to live on Hulu with ‘Castle Rock’ renewed for season 2 on the streaming network.

The news of the renewal was announced on Tuesday.

‘Castle Rock’ — based on the fictitious Stephen King universe that takes place in a small town in Maine — has been a breakout hit for Hulu with some of the biggest streaming numbers ever produced for the network.

So it’s not a big surprise that Hulu is doubling down for more ‘Castle Rock’ but now the question remains what will a second season of the show look like?

As of now, there’s no word on the cast from ‘Castle Rock’ season one returning with the show set up as an anthology series similar to what ‘American Horror Story’ does each year. While it’s possible that some cast members could come back, nothing is set in stone and it’s possible some of those actors who do return could be playing different characters.

“Each season is going to be its own self-contained story: beginning, middle and end,” show runner Dustin Thomason told The Hollywood Reporter. “But I think that just as the books do, we want to surprise viewers with the ways in which the stories intersect. Just as the places the characters pop up in very unexpected ways throughout the books, that’s the kind of anthology that we would like to tell. One of the things about the King universe, or multiverse, is that some very strange things can happen when it comes to the ways that the stories unfold, and hopefully there will be surprises along the way in terms of how the anthology works in that way.
“It’s pretty delicious that Kathy Bates played both Dolores Claiborne and Annie Wilkes, when you really think about that question in the movie adaptations. But I think that there’s something for us about being faithful to the way that Steve does it in the books, that almost feels like the anthology format has already been laid out for us.”

There’s no word yet on how many episodes will be contained in ‘Castle Rock’ season 2 or when the show might actually make its return. Either way, ‘Castle Rock’ is definitely coming back for a second installment on Hulu.
