Channing Tatum’s dream role in a superhero movie was to play Gambit from the X-Men and sometimes wishes do come true…
‘Magic Mike’ and ’22 Jump Street’ star Channing Tatum is set to play Gambit in an upcoming X-Men movie according to film producer Lauren Shuler-Donner, who revealed the news while on the red carpet of the ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’ premiere this week.
Tatum had expressed interest in playing the role previously and apparently his request didn’t fall on deaf ears.
“He’s a rogue, Channing — he’s a rascal, just like Remy LeBeau,” she explained when speaking to Total Film. “And he can handle the action, we all know that. And he’s got a really good heart. I think he’ll be great for Gambit. And he’s a southerner too, he understands that world, and you know Gambit loves New Orleans.”
There was no specific movie mentioned for Tatum’s debut as Gambit, but considering the next major movie coming from the X-Men franchise has already been slated as ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ in 2016, it seems pretty likely that’s where he’ll make his debut.
