Despite rumors to the contrary a week ago, Channing Tatum has inked his deal to play ‘Gambit’…..
The next generation of X-Men will be left in Channing Tatum’s hands after the actor inked a deal to officially play raging Cajun mutant ‘Gambit’ for the upcoming movie directed by Rupert Wyatt (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes).
Reports surfaced a week ago that said Tatum was in danger of leaving the project all together over contract concerns.
Now according to The Hollywood Reporter, Tatum has closed his deal and has officially signed on to play ‘Gambit’ in his own movie coming out on October 7, 2016.
Tatum’s deal also reportedly covers his involvement in the ‘X-Men’ series of films, which could see him portray Gambit numerous times over the next few years. Actors such as Hugh Jackman, who plays Wolverine, have been playing the role for the better part of 15 years — although he’s stated the upcoming ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ will be his last.
Tatum has long lobbied to star in a ‘Gambit’ movie so it always seemed illogical that he would abandon the project just before it got off the ground and now those worries have been laid to rest.
