While it appeared as if Tywin Lannister died on the toilet at the end of Game of Thrones last season it seems the actor who played him is returning for season 5…
It was a rather unceremonious exit for Charles Dance aka Tywin Lannister at the close of last season of Game of Thrones. With his royal knickers around his ankles, Tywin met his fate thanks to two arrows courtesy of his son Tyrion, who sought revenge after all the years of torment and torture he suffered at his father’s hand — not to mention the death sentence he was just handed hours earlier.
But now with season 5 of Game of Thrones filming in locations around the world, Dance did an interview with MTV recently promoting the new movie Dracula Untold that he will be back on the show in some capacity when it debuts in 2015.
“I’m not completely missing out on the next series,” Dance said in the interview. “More than that, I’m not going to say. You haven’t seen the last of Tywin Lannister, is all I’ll say.”
Now Dance stating that he’ll be back as Tywin Lannister next season could mean any number of things. The show could pick up moments after he was shot down by Tyrion and there’s a few last gasps for breath before he expires. There could be flashback scenes with Tywin and his family. There could also be a funeral upcoming like other characters have had throughout the history of the show.
Either way, Tywin is coming back for season 5 in some way shape or form!
