‘Captain America: Civil War’ is expected to feature a huge list of Marvel characters but will Daredevil join the fray now that he’s officially part of the family?
‘Daredevil’ will officially launch next Friday April 10 on Netflix with all 13 episodes from the first season being released simultaneously on the subscription based service.
Between the teasers and the trailers, ‘Daredevil’ looks like an instant hit as Marvel moves to Netflix for a series of new shows that will also including ‘AKA Jessica Jones’ as well as ‘Luke Cage’ and ‘Iron Fist’.
Even more good news — these series will take place in the same universe and continuity as the other Marvel entities like ‘The Avengers’ and Marvel’s ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’.
With a huge list of Marvel movies slated for the next few years, the question then becomes could we see any of these new characters springing up in films like ‘Captain America: Civil War’ or possibly ‘The Avengers: Infinity War’?
While we already know Spider-Man will cross over and appear in ‘Captain America: Civil War’, what about Daredevil, who also played a big part in the original comic book series that pit Captain America against Iron Man in a battle about superheroes revealing their identities by law to the public as a matter of safety.
Actor Charlie Cox, who portrays Daredevil in the new Netflix series, says he hasn’t been approached about appearing in ‘Captain America: Civil War’ but he promises he’s only a phone call away because it’s something he would love to pursue.
“I’ve been reading Civil War – and Daredevil does appear in that,” Cox told IGN. “And look – again, just to clarify – I have not been called about that. I haven’t been invited to that party! But it would be very very cool. Just to be in the background, saying cool stuff every now and then. It would be cool to be with all those guys.”
The bad news for ‘Daredevil’, the only other Marvel show to use by comparison is ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ and while the course of that show was changed forever in the wake of the events of ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’, none of the characters from the series actually appeared in the film.
It’s hard to know if Marvel will ever change direction on possibly including any other made for TV characters in the film universe but anything’s possible.
