It looks like Batman might be crossing over to the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Christian Bale in talks to join “Thor: Love and Thunder”…
The Dark Knight might be joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Well sort of.
Christian Bale — who portrayed Bruce Wayne/Batman in three Christopher Nolan films capped off by 2012’s “The Dark Knight Rises” — is reportedly in talks to join “Thor: Love and Thunder” from director Taika Waititi.
While a deal isn’t done yet, Bale is reportedly in discussions with Marvel Studios about joining the franchise, which is the fourth film in the “Thor” series with the latest movie following 2017’s smash hit “Thor: Ragnarok.”
There’s no word yet on what role Bale would be playing but considering Chris Hemsworth will be returning as Thor alongside Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie and Natalie Portman reprising her role as Jane Foster, it would seem likely that the former Batman might be playing the villain in the movie. Details about the actual plot of the film haven’t been detailed yet, which takes place in the aftermath of “Avengers: Endgame.”
One big twist was previously revealed at San Diego Comic Con with Portman confirmed to return and take up the mantle as the Mighty Thor in this upcoming sequel.
Since Bale got out of the superhero business, he’s been keeping busy with numerous critically acclaimed roles including last year’s movie “Vice” as well as his role in “Ford v. Ferrari,” which has earned him several awards nominations already.
As of right now, Bale hasn’t committed to any other roles scheduled to start production in 2020, which means he would likely be free to join the “Thor” franchise as his next movie role.
Filming on “Thor: Love and Thunder” is expected to kick off later this year with the film slated for release on November 5, 2021.
