The show set in present day reunites Johnny Lawrence from the first ‘Karate Kid’ movie as he looks to re-establish a new Cobra Kai academy while taking over as the lead instructor. It doesn’t take long before he’s butting heads with his old rival Daniel LaRusso, who has become a successful car dealership owner in the same neighborhood.
Season 2 of ‘Cobra Kai’ saw the return of Martin Kove as the villainous John Kreese, who was Johnny’s sadistic trainer from when he was a teenager while Daniel decides to open his own rival karate dojo and teach for free just to get back at Cobra Kai.
‘Cobra Kai’ has been well received by critics and audiences alike and now ‘The Karate Kid’ spinoff will go back into production later this year with a 2020 debut date on YouTube planned.
