This is the third week in a row for Coming Soon Candy, not bad huh? We all like trailers don’t you see…so have a look at the bottom three. It’s poetic.
1. Nerds are everywhere including in the UK. Some of the best comedies come out of that region of the globe. The World’s End is the third film in the Three Flavours Cornetto trilogy, following Shaun of the Dead (2004), and Hot Fuzz (2007). This latest science fiction installment is directed by Edgar Wright and stars English comedic geniuses Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, Paddy Considine, Martin Freeman, and Eddie Marsan.
The premise of the film is when Gary King (Simon Pegg), a hedonistic alcoholic, resolves to track down his estranged friends and complete the Golden Mile, an infamous pub crawl encompassing 12 pubs in their hometown of Newton Haven. The group attempted the crawl as teenagers, but failed to reach the final pub, the World’s End. This time they have to battle evil robots as they try to guzzle down beers. The film was released in the UK last month but won’t see North American Theaters until August 23, 2013. Have a look-see.

2. Most of us grew up playing with Lego and some of us still do. So it is only fitting to have a Lego movie. The film is directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller and it appears they do a great job of using stop motion and computer animation to make the Lego pieces come alive. An all-star cast of voices come together to build what will probably be one of the biggest box office hits of 2014. Actors like Chris Pratt, Morgan Freeman, Will Arnett, Elizabeth Banks, Liam Neeson, Will Ferrell, Nick Offerman, Jonah Hill, Cobie Smulders, and Channing Tatum lend their voices to the little lego characters that we all know and love.
The premise of the film is about an ordinary guy named Emmet (Chris Pratt) who is mistaken as being the Master Builder, the one who can save the universe. With the aid of an old mystic Vitruvius (Morgan Freeman), a tough young lady named Lucy (Elizabeth Banks), and Batman (Will Arnett), Emmet will fight to defeat the evil tyrant Lord Business (Will Ferrell) who is bent on destroying the universe by gluing it together. The film is set to be released in February of 2014.

3. I’m in my thirties and I’m not ashamed to admit that I loved the first How to Train Your Dragon flick (2010) and we are finally coming close to the second installment in the trilogy and Nerdcore Movement has the teaser trailer. The film is being written and directed by Dean DeBlois. It stars the voices of Jay Baruchel, Gerard Butler, Craig Ferguson, America Ferrera, Jonah Hill, T.J. Miller, Kristen Wiig and Christopher Mintz-Plasse to name a few. The villain will be played by none other than Game of Thrones star Kit Harington.
What is in store for an older Hiccup and his dragon Toothless, The Night Fury? The trailer below doesn’t tell us much about the story but we do see a more kick ass version of the son of the Viking Chief Stoick the Vast. The film is set to be released in June of 2014 and the third film in the trilogy is set for 2016 release.

That is it for this week’s Coming Soon Candy. I suppose we should do this again next Friday? Maybe wear that little pink dress I like.
By the way if you haven’t heard yet, Nerdcore Movement has a new podcast called “Talk Nerdy to Me” and it is hosted by a very awesome Bob Suicide and the Nerdcore Oracle himself Damon Martin. They will talk nerdy about all kinds of topics that meet your inner geekdom. Make sure to have a listen and pass on the news.
