The newest villain in the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been confirmed as Daniel Bruhl will play Baron Zemo in ‘Captain America: Civil War’….
Daniel Bruhl — best known for playing Nazi sharpshooter Fredrick Zoller in Quentin Tarantino’s ‘Inglorious Basterds’ — has confirmed that he will play another German bad guy in the upcoming film ‘Captain America: Civil War’.
Bruhl confirmed to The Independent that he’ll be playing Baron Zemo, an iconic Captain America villain, in the upcoming film, which begins shooting later this month.
“I think I can tell you that without being thrown into Marvel prison…” Brühl said.
There are a couple of famous Baron Zemo’s from the Marvel Universe, but Bruhl will be playing Baron Helmut Zemo, the son of Baron Heinrich Zemo, who was the person in the comic books that dumped Captain America in the ocean during World War II that led to him being frozen for decades until he was finally revived.
Baron Helmut Zemo, like his father, believes in the master race and the only people qualified to rule that master race are the Zemo family. He has genius level intellect and he’s a master scientist and inventor.
In the comics, Zemo is terribly scarred after a run in with Captain America sent him into a vat of super sticky adhesive he created that left him with a face only a mother could love.
He’s also the man behind making the super group the Masters of Evil so there’s no telling what Zemo’s role will be in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
‘Captain America: Civil War’ opens in theaters on May 6, 2016.
