The director behind ‘Deadpool 2’ is out in a shocking move ahead of the highly anticipated sequel due out in 2018…
‘Deadpool 2’ will move forward without one of the key components from the first film.
Director Tim Miller — who was at the helm for the original film as well — has left ‘Deadpool 2’ due to creative differences with star Ryan Reynolds.
According to reports, Miller left the project on amicable terms and FOX, the studio in charge of ‘Deadpool 2’, is expected to hand him over to another major film series in the works currently.
It’s an unfortunate set of circumstances considering how closely Miller worked with Reynolds on the original film that ultimately raked in over $782 million on just a $58 million budget.
A sequel for the ‘R’ rated superhero film was immediately ordered with Reynolds, Miller and writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, who were all returning to the project. Miller was also a key person involved in getting the first ‘Deadpool’ movie released after he helped to leak footage from a test screening done with Reynolds that had fans clamoring for a chance to see the ‘Merc with a Mouth’ on the big screen.
Ultimately, ‘Deadpool’ ended up as one of the most well reviewed and well received films of the year, but now the sequel will move forward without director Tim Miller as part of the team.
There’s no word yet on who might replace Miller on ‘Deadpool 2’ but he’s expected to move onto ‘Influx’ — a new film series that FOX hopes to launch based on the novel by David Suarez.
