Director George Miller is ready to head back to dystopian Australia for ‘Mad Max: The Wasteland’ following the success of ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’….
‘Mad Max: Fury Road’ has been one of the most well received and well reviewed movies of the year as director George Miller returned to the franchise he made famous in the 1970’s and 80’s with an adrenaline charged update starring Tom Hardy in the lead role.
With the success of the recent film’s release this past weekend, Miller is already eyeballing a sequel in the near future.

Miller later revealed when speaking to The Q&A Podcast that the new ‘Mad Max’ movie already has a working script and plenty of background to draw from when they begin filming.
“We’ve got one screenplay and a novella,” Miller said. “It happened because, with the delays (on ‘Mad Max: Fury Road), and writing all the backstories, they just expanded.”
The new movie in the ‘Mad Max’ franchise will be titled ‘Mad Max: The Wasteland’.
Now here’s the interesting part — according to a report from Nerdist, the next two ‘Mad Max’ films coming from Miller with Hardy starring will be prequels to the series. There’s no word on how far back the stories will go, but it looks like there’s an origin story coming for Max Rockatansky.
Hardy has already been signed on for two sequels in the series along with Miller directing. There’s no timeline yet for when ‘Mad Max: The Wasteland’ might begin production.
