In the final trailer for ‘Doctor Sleep’, Danny Torrance returns to the Overlook Hotel where his father tried to kill him and his mother years earlier…
It’s been nearly 40 years since ‘The Shining’ was released in theaters but the Stanley Kubrick classic remains one of the most beloved and iconic horror films of all time.
On November 8, Mike Flanagan — the showrunner behind Netflix’s breakout series ‘The Haunting of Hill House’ — will look to strike magic again with ‘Doctor Sleep’, which is the adaptation of the Stephen King novel of the same name where he continues the story of ‘The Shining’ years later.
This story follows Danny Torrance (played by Ewan McGregor) as he still struggles to find his place in the world while still being haunted by the memories from a childhood that saw his father Jack go mad and try to kill him and his mother Wendy.
In ‘Doctor Sleep’, Danny soon finds out that he’s not alone when it comes to the power of ‘the shining’ and there are people out there who will do great harm to anybody with that kind of power. Danny is then forced to protect a young girl with power similar to his own while trying to stay one step ahead of the people attempting to capture both of them.
Here’s the official synopsis for ‘Doctor Sleep’:
“Still irrevocably scarred by the trauma he endured as a child at the Overlook, Dan Torrance has fought to find some semblance of peace. But that peace is shattered when he encounters Abra, a courageous teenager with her own powerful extrasensory gift, known as the “shine.” Instinctively recognizing that Dan shares her power, Abra has sought him out, desperate for his help against the merciless Rose the Hat and her followers, The True Knot, who feed off the shine of innocents in their quest for immortality.
“Forming an unlikely alliance, Dan and Abra engage in a brutal life-or-death battle with Rose. Abra’s innocence and fearless embrace of her shine compel Dan to call upon his own powers as never before—at once facing his fears and reawakening the ghosts of the past.”
The new and final trailer for ‘Doctor Sleep’ takes Danny back to the Overlook Hotel, which was the site of his father’s murderous rampage. Take a look at the new trailer and get ready for ‘Doctor Sleep’ to land in theaters on November 8.
