Kurt Sutter’s new series ‘The Bastard Executioner’ has landed pop star Ed Sheeran in a recurring role for season one of the FX series….
Ed Sheeran — best known his vocal stylings and selling millions of records — will try out his acting chops after landing a recurring role on the upcoming FX series ‘The Bastard Executioner’ from ‘Sons of Anarchy’ creator Kurt Sutter.
Sheeran was actually a huge fan of ‘Sons of Anarchy’ and ended up contributing the song ‘Make it Rain’ to the final season of the hit FX drama last year. During that time, Sheeran obviously made an impression on Sutter and the two struck up a friendship that has now resulted in a new part for the Brit on the upcoming show.
Sheeran will play Sir Cormac — “an ambitious and deadly protégé of a high-ranking church elder”.
‘The Bastard Executioner’ follows the story of a knight in 14th century England under the charge of King Edward II, who throws down his sword after seeing the true ravages of war before an event forces him to pick up the bloodiest sword of all.
‘The Bastard Executioner’ has a 10 episode first season order from FX and also stars newcomer Lee Jones, ‘True Blood’ star Stephen Moyer and ‘Sons of Anarchy’ star Katey Sagal.
There’s no word on when Sheeran will appear in the series, but he’s expected to show up in multiple episodes during season one.
‘The Bastard Executioner’ will debut on FX this September.
