Academy Award winner Eddie Redmayne has officially signed on to star in the new Harry Potter spinoff ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’….
Following his Oscar winning role in ‘The Theory of Everything’, actor Eddie Redmayne has selected his next major project as he is set to play magizoologist Newt Scamander in the Harry Potter spinoff film ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’.
Redmayne has been rumored for the part for several months, but sources said he wanted to read the finished script for the film before officially inking his name to star.
Harry Potter creator and author J.K. Rowling wrote the script based on the character that first appeared in her Harry Potter novels.
“Eddie is a fearless actor, brimming with invention, wit and humanity,” director David Yates said about Redmayne. “I couldn’t be more excited about the prospect of working with him as we start this new adventure in J.K. Rowling’s wonderful world, and I know she feels the same way.”
‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’ takes place about 70 years before the events in Harry Potter and it’s expected to be a multi-film series as well.
The first film will open in theaters on November 18, 2016.
