Get your boomsticks ready because The Evil Dead saga will continue in a new TV show being developed for Starz and Bruce Campbell is attached to the project as well….
The wildly popular, cult classic Evil Dead and the two sequels spawned — Evil Dead 2 and Army of Darkness — will now be brought back to life in a new television series on Starz as announced by the network on Monday.
Sam Raimi, who directed the first Evil Dead movie in 1981, will executive produce as well as write and direct the first episode for the series.
Even bigger news is the fact that Bruce Campbell — who starred in all three films as Ash — will be reprising the role for the new television show on Starz.
“I’m really excited to bring this series to the Evil Dead fans worldwide. It’s going to be everything they have been clamoring for: serious deadite ass-kicking and plenty of outrageous humor,” Campbell said.
The premise for the series is below courtesy of Starz:
“Bruce Campbell will be reprising his role as Ash, the stock boy, aging lothario and chainsaw-handed monster hunter who has spent the last 30 years avoiding responsibility, maturity and the terrors of the Evil Dead. When a Deadite plague threatens to destroy all of mankind, Ash is finally forced to face his demons –personal and literal. Destiny, it turns out, has no plans to release the unlikely hero from its ‘Evil’ grip.”
The show will begin production and launch in 2015. Get your boomsticks ready kids cause Ash is coming to town.
