The final trailer for ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’ dropped a major Easter egg….
‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’ will relaunch the ‘Harry Potter’ universe with a new movie set for release on November 18 and a major clue to the plot was just revealed in the final trailer.
What we’ve known about the movie thus far is that magizoologist Newt Scamander arrives in America with a suitcase full of magical creatures and some of them escape, which then causes havoc for the wizarding community in the United States.
What the latest trailer reveals is that Newt’s mistake could erupt into a civil war between wizards and the No-Maj’s aka muggles due to an uneasy tension currently simmering throughout New York City. It appears that Percival Graves (Colin Farrell) believes that wizards should rule over the humans just like another famous dark wizard from the history of ‘Harry Potter’.
In the trailer, the name Gellert Grindelwald is uttered and he should sound familiar to Potter fans. He was a dark wizard — the most famous dark wizard until Lord Voldemort came into power — and he believed that the magic world should no longer live in the shadows and instead should rise up to rule over humanity. His quest involved finding the Deathly Hallows and become a “Master of Death”. He famously dueled Albus Dumbledore but lost before he was imprisoned for decades as a result of his crimes.
Grindlewald was eventually killed by Lord Voldemort when he refused to give up information about the Elder Wand.
Considering that ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’ is expected to end up as a trilogy, it certainly seems like Grindlewald could become the big bad for this series the same way Voldermort ruled over the original ‘Harry Potter’ films/books.
