Fargo is coming back for season 3 on FX? Oh yeah, you betcha….
Fargo has quickly turned into one of the best reviewed and well liked shows on all of television so it shouldn’t come as too big a surprise that FX has decided to give the series a third season.
The current season — with four episodes still remaining — has been one of the most critically acclaimed shows in 2015 across several platforms including Metacritic and Rotten Tomatoes.
Show runner Noah Hawley will return to lead season 3 although there’s no detail on what the story will focus on next year with the show set up as an anthology series.
“Year two of Fargo is an extraordinary achievement and, given Noah Hawley’s masterful storytelling, we can’t wait to see where the third, all-new version of Fargo takes us,” said Eric Schrier, president of original programming at FX. “Our thanks to Noah, Warren, Joel & Ethan, John and our partners at MGM Television for making Fargo such a memorable and rewarding journey.”
The show based loosely on the film of the same name written by Joel and Ethan Coen has received numerous awards and nominations since debuting last year and there will likely be a few more based on season 2.
