The second season of ‘Fargo’ has found the lead cast members as Kirsten Dunst and ‘Breaking Bad’ star Jesse Plemons will take over the roles for the new series….
When ‘Fargo’ was first conceived as a television series by Noah Hawley, the plan was for the show to run one season and act as a somewhat add on to the original movie from Joel and Ethan Coen.
What resulted was one of the best shows of the year and so fans began clamoring for a season 2.
Now Hawley is putting the finishing touches on a new season of ‘Fargo’ set several years before the original plot in 1979 and the show will star Kirsten Dunst in the lead role playing Peggy Blomquist, “a small town beautician with big city dreams who is trying to figure out who she really is and what she really wants as she struggles with traditional societal expectations” according to EW.
Her husband Ed Blomquist will be played by ‘Breaking Bad’ star Jesse Plemons in a role where he’s a butcher’s assistant while trying to be supportive of his wife’s new outlook on the world.
The series is expected to debut on FX in 2015 and just like the original run will be a completely separate story from both the movie and the first season of the show. ‘Fargo’ is expected to be an anthology series just like ‘True Detective’ where the characters and story will change season to season although ‘Fargo’ will likely take place in the same ‘world’ as each previous season with slight interconnections.
For instance this season set in 1979 will also feature Lou Solverson, who played a part in the most recent version of the show, but this time he’ll be a much younger man played by a different actor (Keith Carradine played him the first time).
‘Fargo’ season 2 is expected to debut in the fall of 2015.
