Oscar nominated actress Felicity Jones is the leading candidate to land a featured spot in the new ‘Star Wars’ spinoff from Gareth Edwards…
The Star Wars universe is really going to grow over the next few years with an ambitious slate of films scheduled for release from Disney starting with ‘Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens’, which opens on December 18.
Following the release of that film, Disney will then shift its focus towards a standalone ‘Star Wars’ film directed by Gareth Edwards, who most recently worked on ‘Godzilla’.
While there’s very little known about the upcoming movie, Felicity Jones is now in talks to land the lead female role in the project from the mouse house.
According to several reports, Jones is currently in negotiations to land the lead alongside an as of yet unnamed male actor. Rumors have abounded that ‘Breaking Bad’ star Aaron Paul is another name on Disney’s short list, but nothing has been confirmed as of now.
The film remains a mystery as well although speculation has stayed centered around a Han Solo feature film looking on his earlier life before running into Luke Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi in a cantina on Tatooine during the first ‘Star Wars’ film from 1977.
Jones has become a must-watch actress in 2015 after turning in a stellar performance in the Stephen Hawking bio-pic ‘The Theory of Everything’ where she played his college sweetheart and future wife.
