With JJ Abrams busy directing the next installment of ‘Star Wars’, it appears first time director Roberto Orci will take over the helm of the USS Enterprise for the third Star Trek movie…
Roberto Orci — best known for writing credits alongside former partner Alex Kurtzman — will get the chance to cut his teeth as a director in one of the biggest franchises in film as he will take over the helm for the third Star Trek movie.
According to Variety, Orci had been vying to land the job for some time and with Abrams pre-occupied with his new Star Wars duties, the studio behind Star Trek had to go in a new direction. Orci was a writer on the first two Star Trek movies, and has already been announced as a writer on the third one as well.
Now he’ll get his chance to direct the upcoming film starring Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto in the lead roles.
