FOX has decided to start ‘The Predator’ franchise all over again with the director of ‘Iron Man 3’ at the helm of the project…
The 1987 cult classic film ‘The Predator’ is getting rebooted from FOX because why not? With originality in Hollywood already scraping by with the bare minimum effort, ‘The Predator’ is the latest film franchise to land on the ‘let’s do it again’ pile with Iron Man 3 director Shane Black writing the script for the upcoming project.
The original ‘Predator’ film starred Arnold Schwarzenegger, Carl Weathers and Jesse Ventura as special operative commandos who are attacked in the jungle by an alien hunter, stalking and killing each of them throughout the course of the movie. The franchise went onto spawn several sequels and crossovers as well as numerous comic book projects as well.
Now the series will get rebooted with Black in charge of the script, and while just about any reboot earns a general groan of disapproval, at least FOX hired a solid writer to get the job done. Black has worked on ‘Lethal Weapon’, ‘The Last Boy Scout’ and the classic film ‘Monster Squad’ (if somebody kicks the Predator in the junk and says ‘Predator’s got nards’ this will all be worthwhile). He will also work with Fred Dekker on the film, who was his co-writer on ‘Monster Squad’.
Black is also set to direct the new film with John Davis on board to produce the movie after also producing the original 1987 film.
