The new X-Men series titled Legion that’s headed to FX has cast Fargo season 2 star Rachel Keller in the lead role but who she’s playing is still a mystery….
Rachel Keller — best known from her role in Fargo season 2 where she played Simone Gerhardt — has been cast in the lead role in the new FX adaptation of the Marvel X-Men comic Legion.
The casting makes perfect sense considering Legion is being developed by Fargo creator Noah Hawley, who also had a hand in casting Keller for his other hit show on FX.
Legion tells the story of a boy named David Haller, a boy stricken with serious mental illness who figures out with the help of another patient that the voices inside his head may not be a figment of his imagination and instead lead to development of some very powerful mutant abilities including telekineses, telepathy and several others.
In the comic book series, Haller is the biological son of X-Men founder Charles Xavier, but whether or not that will carry over into the new TV show remains to be seen.
As far as Keller’s role, she’s playing a 20-something woman who is ‘scrappy and idealistic’ with no actual description of her character’s name or potential relationship to Haller. Chances are Keller is playing one of any number of famous mutants from the X-Men library but those details won’t be released until closer to the show actually filming and airing.
The role of Haller hasn’t been cast as of yet but chances are with Keller landing the female lead, her counterpart won’t be far behind.
