Game of Thrones has cast an actor to play Samwell Tarly’s brother for season 6 which also fuels rumors about Ian McShane’s upcoming role…..
Freddie Stroma — best known for his role in the Harry Potter films as well as UnReal — has been cast as Dickon Tarly, the younger brother to Samwell Tarly on Game of Thrones season 6.
Dickon Tarly is the handsome, physically gifted brother who is set to inherit his father’s kingdom after his older brother Samwell abandoned all claims to join the Night’s Watch.
There’s no word on how many episodes Stroma will appear as Dickon, but his casting brings up an interesting question about the appearance of his father, Randyll Tarly, in Game of Thrones season 6 as well.
Rumors have been swirling for months that Samwell’s father would be making an appearance in season 6 and following the news that Deadwood star Ian McShane was joining the show, speculation began that he would play the part.
With Stroma now cast as Dickon Tarly it certainly seems likely that his father Randyll Tarly will be appearing as well and that means maybe McShane will be playing the famous head of House Tarly after all!
Game of Thrones season 6 will debut on HBO in the spring of 2016.
