Author George R.R. Martin is once again teasing the release of ‘The Winds of Winter’…
‘Game of Thrones’ fans and readers of the ‘A Song of Ice and Fire’ novels have impatiently been waiting for author George R.R. Martin to put the finishing touches on the sixth book in the series — ‘The Winds of Winter’.
It’s been almost six years since the last book ‘A Dance with Dragons’ was released and Martin has constantly teased potential release dates for ‘The Winds of Winter’ but alas the book has still not come out.
Now this latest update from Martin comes via his own personal website where he once again teased the release date for ‘The Winds of Winter’ but also cautioned fans that he’s been wrong before.
“Not done yet, but I’ve made progress. But not as much as I hoped a year ago, when I thought to be done by now,” Martin stated.
“I think it will be out this year. (But hey, I thought the same thing last year).”
While Martin has taken his time to get ‘The Winds of Winter’ ready for publication, ‘Game of Thrones’ has long since surpassed the author’s story with the TV show now far beyond the source material.
In fact, ‘Game of Thrones’ will debut season 7 this Summer with the story well ahead of Martin’s books although show runners David Benioff and Dan Weiss have consulted with the author to stay as true to his original vision as possible.
If Martin is still working on ‘The Winds of Winter’ then it’s impossible to believe that the book would be out before the latter half of 2017 but fans will keep their fingers crossed that he somehow surprises everybody and releases it sooner.
