‘Game of Thrones’ Mixtape Volume 2 Features Killswitch Engage and Anthrax

Following a much talked about Game of Thrones mixtape released last year, a new version will be coming soon featuring some heavier tracks from bands such as Killswitch Engage and Anthrax….

When it was announced last year that Game of Thrones would be releasing a mixtape featuring a slew of hip-hop artists in a title called ‘Catch the Throne’, the reaction was understandably mixed. The tracks featuring rappers such as Common and Big Boi from Outkast mixed a ‘Game of Thrones’ theme in the lyrics with many of the songs also sampling music from the popular HBO series. Now it appears there’s a second volume forthcoming with a little heavier edge. Killswitch Engage and Anthrax have both confirmed that they will be a part of a new Game of Thrones mixtape coming out in 2015 ahead of season 5 of the show. While the full track list and bands involved hasn’t been confirmed it appears this new version will feature a bigger mix of music with rock and heavy metal taking center stage.

“All of you out there who watch Game of Thrones, much like me, probably think it’s a very metal TV show,” Anthrax guitarist Scott Ian told Metal Hammer about his band’s participation on the mixtape. “And just know: the reason for that is that one of the creators (Dan Weiss) is a huge metalhead.”

Adding a rougher edge to the songs will be a welcome treat for fans of ‘Game of Thrones’ especially if Killswitch Engage just happens to do a cover of ‘Rains of Castamere’. Who wouldn’t want to hear that?!?
