It looks like Game of Thrones is the odds on favorite to once again walk out with the most Emmy awards this year…..
The 2016 Emmy nominees were announced on Thursday with a slew of returning favorites at the top of the list as well as several new shows making a dominant push this year.
Game of Thrones led all nominees with 23 nominations including ‘Best Drama’, as well as ‘Best Supporting Actor’ nods for Kit Harington and Peter Dinklage as well as a trio of nominations for ‘Best Supporting Actress’ with Lena Headey, Emilia Clarke and Maisie Williams all being recognized in the category.
The FX limited series The People vs. OJ Simpson also cleaned up with a slew of nominations including ‘Best Limited Series’ as well as a ‘Best Actress’ nod for Sarah Paulson — who was also nominated for ‘Best Supporting Actress in a Limited Series’ for her role in American Horror Story: Hotel.
Freshman drama Mr. Robot also made quite an impact this year at the Emmy awards with nods for ‘Best Drama’ as well as recognition for Rami Malek for ‘Best Actor’. Surprisingly, Christian Slater did not get nominated for ‘Best Supporting Actor’ despite taking home the Golden Globe award for his work during season one.
