Massive spoiler alert as it appears two major characters are set to return for Game of Thrones season 6 in 2016….
With Game of Thrones still shooting across several different countries, reports are still surfacing of certain actors and actresses appearing on set including a slew of new additions to the show.
Most recently, however, a couple of familiar faces that haven’t been seen in quite some time have apparently been spotted filming with crews in Europe.
Final warning in regards to spoilers if you don’t want to know stop right now!
It looks like Edmure Tully and his uncle ‘The Blackfish’ Brynden Tully are both set to make a return for Game of Thrones season 6!. Neither character has appeared since the penultimate episode in season 3 after the events known as ‘The Red Wedding’ took place.
Clive Russell — who plays Brynden Tully — has been spotted in Northern Ireland according to Watchers on the Wall.
‘The Blackfish’ was last seen making a timely exit at the Red Wedding when he left the main dining hall to use the bathroom just seconds before Walder Frey unleashed his attack that led to the deaths of Robb Stark, his mother Catelyn and his wife and unborn child.
Tobias Menzies — who portrays Edmure Tully — has also been spotted filming in Northern Ireland as part of the Game of Thrones season 6 cast.
Edmure also attended the Red Wedding where he married Walder Frey’s daughter, but after being carried out for the bedding ceremony, he was tossed in a dungeon where he’s remained ever since.
The confirmation that both characters have been seen filming on set means that we could be headed back to the Twins and the home of Walder Frey or possibly to the Riverrun where the Tully family has ruled for many years.
It should be interesting to see what happens to the Tully family with both major characters (still alive) set to return to the show next year!
Game of Thrones season 6 will debut on HBO in the spring of 2016.
